SOMETHING
These are cancers that are completely preventable. We can eradicate HPV-caused cancers so that no one suffers or dies from this virus ever again. We have the research, we have the vaccine, now all we need is you to spread the word and take action.
You are the heroes in this story. Our family cannot thank you enough for fighting HPV. If we prevent just one more “Kristen” experience, then we have done our jobs.
01
GET VACCINATED.
Vaccination is the number one thing you can do for yourself and your loved ones. The vaccine prevents HPV, a virus that causes a variety of cancers. Through vaccination, you are protected from the virus and you prevent the spread of HPV to others.
02
GET SCREENED.
Ladies, please commit to regular screenings by your doctor to check for precancerous cells, as well as the HPV virus. By screening regularly, you can ensure that any appearance of HPV or cancer is prevented or caught as early as possible. Unfortunately, there is currently no screening available for those of us without a cervix.
03
TALK ABOUT IT.
Educate yourself about HPV and the vaccine. When you know your stuff, you can talk confidently to others about the dangers of HPV and the fact that these cancers are completely preventable with the vaccine. And that’s what you need to do. Talk about it to your friends, to your coworkers, your parents, your siblings, your children. Share it on social media. When we have the facts, we can make smarter decisions.
04
INSPIRE ACTION.
Read Love, Kristen and pass your copy on to a friend or coworker. Encourage your school or organization to show the documentary “Someone You Love, the HPV Epidemic.” Or attend a screening with a friend. Be accountable to your friends and family and make sure they are getting screened. Ask if they’ve been vaccinated and offer to go with them if they haven’t. Inspire people to take concrete steps to eradicate this cancer-causing virus. Students of Indiana University can even view the film for free.
